The Young and the Raeless

So it was a Rae day in Calgary yesterday.
Or more accurately it was a Kennedy dawn and a Rae Sunset.

Gerard Kennedy visited Calgary in the morning and spoke at the Calgary Science Centre. (I will resist the obvious comments about the age focus of the science center). About 30 to 35 people attended, he spoke well, but it was pretty low key. Hard to draw a lot for an 8am start on a Monday, very heavy youth presence.

Bobby Rae spoke last night, my source was very accurate in this case. 47 people attended. Of those 10 were Rae campaign workers and key supporters and 11 were definite supporters of other candidates. Two riding presidents and Sen. Nick Taylor were there. I think the two presidents both support other candidates, certainly Heather Pearcy of Calgary North Centre is on the Dion list.

The interesting thing, Rae’s meeting looked like an old reform style meeting, it seemed like the average age was about 65. Lots of blue hair and no hair. The only youth there were a bunch of Kennedy guys checking out the action. Jesse Chahal supporting his brother Raj (who wasn’t there but his wife Japant was.) Jeff Angel, a Bevilaqua worker was there and had been traveling with Rae. A couple Bennett people were there but had not decided if they were going to follow their leader over.

“Rae was ok, if a little rumpled but rambled and gave really long answers and then also said he would not be attacking anyone by name before saying “Michael says”” was the quote from my source “but the hall had these crepe bacon wrap things that were really good. “
So while Kennedy was dominated by youth Rae was dominated by age, interesting split.

You can add "Thanks Bob!" to your "Thanks Jack!" banner to the right of your article. Aparantly he was donating to Jack Layton as recently as the last election.

Rae "disgusts" me. I will not vote Liberal in the next federal election if Rae wins. I will not donate to the Liberals in the next election if Rae wins.

I will NOT vote for an Liberal MP that sided with Rae in the next election.

I agree with Anon 7:36am: If Rae wins, I'm not gonna sit on my hands, I'll quietly vote Harper and hope he gets frustrated with being in Opposition and quits.

However, I don't think you should be scared of Kennedy. Yes, he has left leaning ideas, but he would implement them w/o putting us in a large debt. There are ways to be socially responsible w/o emptying the public purse.

He did it when he ran a food bank or 10 years w/o govm't help.

Kennedy Can!
